OVERVIEW

This is a direct appointment job classification.  No examination is required; no employment register is maintained.  Applicants must apply directly to the Alabama Department of Transportation.

QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED TO APPLY

Applicants must meet the qualification listed below in order to be eligible for appointment:

• Six (6) months of experience in janitorial work, grounds, maintenance or related work.

KIND OF WORK

This is manual work involving the custodial care of Alabama Department of Transportation buildings.  Employees in this class perform cleaning and minor maintenance work in Department of Transportation buildings.  Work involves the use of proper methods and materials in cleaning and otherwise caring for the buildings and equipment.  Employees work under close supervision, or work follows a well-established routine.
