George H. Conner served as an officer in the Air Force for four years at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio. He began his career with the Alabama Department of Transportation in 1992 as the Bridge Rating and Load Testing Engineer and within a few years was named the Assistant Bridge Maintenance Engineer. In 1998 he was promoted to Assistant State Maintenance Engineer and in 2008 to State Maintenance Engineer. With the realignment of the department to regions, George was named the Region Engineer for the Southeast Region of ALDOT.
On December 1, 2016, George was appointed Deputy Director of Operations by Transportation Director John Cooper and Governor Robert Bentley.
George is a registered Professional Engineer in the State of Alabama.
He and his wife Kris have three sons; Jacob, Andrew, and Daniel.
