Public Environmental Education and Outreach

Public education can play a vital role in the success of any ALDOT endeavor, including its environmental management efforts. Public education and outreach is also one of the required Six Minimum Control Measures included in ALDOT’s MS4 permit. ALDOT’s public education and outreach efforts target the general public, transportation facility users, contractors and employees. ALDOT addresses stormwater runoff related issues, the impacts of illicit discharges and measures that can be taken to protect the quality of ALDOT transportation facility discharges. In addition to the Media and Community Relations Bureau, every employee has a role to play in this very important effort.
