Online Public Involvement for ATRIP2-049-2020(049):
Roundabout at SR-188 and CR-19 (Irvington Bayou La Batre Highway)
Location: Bayou La Batre (Mobile)

The project is in south Mobile County, just north of the Bayou La Batre city limits in the Irvington Community at the intersection of SR-188 and CR-19. The section of SR-188 south of the intersection is also known as N Wintzell Avenue.

The purpose of this project is to improve the intersection of SR-188 and CR-19 (Irvington-Bayou La Batre Highway). It will entail the removal of the T-intersection and installing a 3-legged roundabout. Portions of N Wintzell Avenue, SR-188, and CR-19 will be realigned to accommodate the new roundabout. The roundabout will be located to the southwest of the existing intersection.

Acquisition of additional right-of-way to the south of the existing intersection is expected to begin in the Spring of 2021. Utilities relocations are expected to begin Fall 2021.

The main work of the project is scheduled to begin in Spring 2022 and end in Summer of 2022.

ALDOT is conducting Online Public Involvement for the proposed project. The commenting period will close for this project on November 26, 2020.
