The Traffic Engineering Division is made up of three sections: Traffic Design, Traffic & Safety Operations, and Safety Planning. The Traffic Design Section is responsible for providing traffic engineering services as needed by the Roadway Design Section, Region Offices, and the Construction Bureau. The Traffic & Safety Operations Section is responsible for the Safety Operations Program which seeks to reduce traffic collisions through the application of traffic and highway engineering principles. The Safety Planning Section is responsible for the reduction in the number and severity of motor vehicle crashes, and to insure safety among motorists and pedestrians.

Gary W. Moore is the assistant bureau chief of the Traffic Engineering Division.
