Online Public Involvement for AL-261 Improvements

Project Overview

Location: Pelham (Shelby County)

Thank you for visiting our website.

The existing project is located along AL-261 (Helena Road) in the City of Pelham. AL-261 is a north-south corridor that facilitates traffic movement between Helena and Pelham.

Existing AL-261 is a two-lane roadway with turn lanes at some intersections which does not accommodate the current and projected traffic volume associated with population growth and development in the area.

The project proposal includes the addition of a travel lane in each direction, northbound and southbound, and turn lanes to provide for more efficient traffic operations.

ALDOT is conducting online public involvement for the proposed project. All comments regarding this project must be submitted on or before September 10, 2021.

This will be an Open-House meeting without any formal presentations. Project information, including maps and comment forms, will be available for review. Representatives from the Alabama Department of Transportation and the Design Consultant will be available to answer questions.
