In-Person and Online Public Involvement: Roundabout on AL-52

In-Person and Online Public Involvement: Roundabout on AL-52

Project Overview

Location: Samson(Geneva County)

ALDOT is proposing to improve the intersection of AL-152, AL-153, and CR-5 west of the City of Samson in Geneva County, Alabama. AL-52 currently connects the City of Samson with Geneva to the east and with Earlytown to the west. AL-153 connects AL-52 to southcentral Alabama and western Florida. CR-5 connects SR-52 and SR-153 to northcentral Alabama. Additionally, AL-153 is a popular travel route to the Gulf Coast beaches and other recreational areas.
High traffic speed, congestion, and crash incidents are an issue at this intersection, especially during recreational seasons. The installation of a roundabout at this intersection will provide a smoother travel experience and will benefit the traveling public by providing a safer intersection for those using AL-52, AL-153, and CR-5.
The purpose of this public involvement meeting is to inform the public of the design features for the project. The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) is interested in obtaining input from the people who use this route.
