Online Public Involvement: Diverging Diamond Interchange at McAshan Drive Exit 104

Project Overview

Location: Bessemer and McCalla (Jefferson County)

The proposed project will implement interchange improvements at I-59/20 Exit 104 (McAshan Drive) in McCalla, AL. The proposed improvements include a new overpass structure over I-59/20 adjacent to the existing bridge and diverging diamond intersections at the north and south bound ramps. The project begins at the intersection of Rock Mountain Lake Road and McAshan Drive north of the I-59/20 interchange and ends at Bay Drive just south of the northbound ramps. The total length of the project is approximately 1 mile. The project will be constructed with traffic remaining on the roadway. Intermittent lane closures may be required during construction. Right of way will be required to implement this project.

The purpose of this public involvement meeting is to inform the public of the design features for the project. The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) is interested in obtaining input from the people who use this route.
