In Person and Online Public Involvement: US-280 Access Management

Project Overview

Location: Chelsea (Shelby County)

The Alabama Department of Transportation is proposing to resurface AL-38 (US-280) from Narrows Parkway to Old Highway 280 in Chelsea, Alabama. Access improvements include median closures, driveway closures, new left-turn and acceleration lanes, and intermittent widening. US-280 will remain open to traffic during construction, but will require occasional lane closures. This project is scheduled to begin in Fall 2023.
ALDOT is conducting online public involvement for the proposed project. All comments regarding this project must be submitted on or before Friday, February 24, 2023.
