Project Overview

Location: Lanett (Chambers County)

The proposed project is located on AL-15(US-28) over I-85 near Lanett in Chambers County, Alabama. Currently, this overpass over I-85 at Exit 79 has experienced an increase in traffic causing road damage that warrants repaving. The road will be repaved with concrete to address these issues as well as improvements to the turning radius of the on and off ramps. During construction of the new concrete pavement, a detour will be required. The proposed project will be constructed in three different phases. The first phase of construction will close AL-15 down to one lane in each direction. Phase 2 will require that the on ramp to I-85 north bound be closed as well as the exit from I-85 southbound onto AL-15. Drivers desiring to take I-85 northbound will be detoured approximately 2.4 miles south to exit 77 in order to get on I-85 north bound. Phase 3 will require that the off ramp from I-85 northbound onto AL-15 be closed as well as the on ramp to I-85 southbound. Drivers will be detoured north on I-85 approximately 2.9 miles into Georgia to exit 2 in order to get on I-85 southbound. The project will not require any right of way.
