Project Overview

Location: Enterprise (Coffee County)

ALDOT is proposing to improve the intersection of AL-27 and Shellfield Road in the City of Enterprise. Enterprise has experienced substantial growth in the area resulting in increased traffic flow at this intersection. As a result, crash incidents are increasing. ALDOT's State Traffic and Safety Engineer has determined that this intersection is an appropriate location for the expenditure of highway safety improvement program (HSIP) funds and Alabama Transportation Rehabilitation and Improvement Program (ATRIP-II) Funds.
The proposed improvements will benefit the traveling public by providing safer intersection interactions. AL-27 currently connects the City of Enterprise with Ozark. Shellfield Road connects Fort Rucker with the City of Enterprise. The proposed roundabout will provide a smoother travel experience for travelers of both Shellfield Road and AL-27.
Intersection improvements such as this proposed roundabout are in keeping with State initiatives for safety, traffic control, and flow.
The purpose of this public involvement meeting is to inform the public of the design features for the project. The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) is interested in obtaining input from the people who use this route.
