Online Public Involvement: Richard Arrington Boulevard Road Diet and Greenway

Online Public Involvement: CMAQ-3718(252) 20th Street Vulcan Greenway

Project Overview

Location: Birmingham (Jefferson County)

This project proposes a roadway configuration to improve connectivity between the City of Birmingham and the City of Homewood. The proposed design will accommodate multiple modes of transportation - vehicular, bicycle, and pedestrian.
The project corridor is approximately 3,700 feet long, demographically mixed, with rolling terrain and a concentration of development.
The proposed Greenway will consist of a 12’ wide concrete urban trail along the west side of the roadway from 15th Avenue South to Valley Avenue and include lighting.
The project will reduce vehicle travel lanes from the existing 4 lanes to 2 lanes with a center left - turn lane.
The project is adjacent to, and will improve access to, the City of Birmingham’s Vulcan Park.
