Project Overview

Location: Fort Payne (Dekalb County)

ALDOT is proposing a project along AL-35 to add an emergency stop truck ramp on the eastern side of Fort Payne, Alabama in Dekalb County. The project is approximately a half mile in length. Currently, a large number of heavy trucks utilize AL-35 as a major route for commercial travel to and from Fort Payne. A few number of these heavy trucks have experienced brake failures traveling down AL-35. This project is proposed to address those issues and to make the road safer to the traveling public. Additional Right-of-way will be required to construct the proposed project.

The purpose of this public involvement meeting is to inform the public of the design features for the project. The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) is interested in obtaining input from the people who use this route.
