Beechcraft Baron

Aircraft Usage

The Alabama Department of Transportation’s Aeronautics Bureau operates a 1975 Beechcraft Baron, N906V. This aircraft is restricted to use by bureau personnel and serves to provide the bureau with an efficient means of transportation in support of its mission within the Transportation Department. N906V is flown by qualified bureau personnel to support the bureau’s airport inspection and grant programs and to attend meetings with Federal Aviation Administration officials and local airport representatives throughout the state for the purpose of providing technical assistance for the planning, design, and construction of their airport facilities. Too, the Baron makes it possible for the bureau’s engineering staff to promptly respond to problems that may arise during project construction, thus reducing the potential for costly construction delays. N906V also enables bureau personnel to observe airport conditions from a pilot’s perspective, thus enabling the staff to identify and recommend actions that should be taken to improve the operational safety of Alabama's airport system.
