Online Public Involvement: Streetscape Improvements on Main Avenue

Online Public Involvement: Streetscape Improvements on Main Avenue

Project Overview

Location: Northport (Tuscaloosa County)

The proposed project involves resurfacing, curb and gutter, traffic control markings, parking spaces, sidewalks, ADA curb ramps, lighting, drainage improvements, and additional streetscape improvements on Main Avenue from 5th Street to SR-6 (US-82). The intersection will be realigned at 10th Street and a left turn lane will be added onto Park Street to improve traffic flow and alleviate congestion at these locations. A small park area will be added within the right-of-way between 10th Street and Park Street to provide a social gathering space with outdoor seating. The project aims to improve the City’s infrastructure, while providing pedestrian connectivity to the downtown district. Right of way will be required for the construction of this project. Additional information can be found in the Right of Way section of this website.

The purpose of this online public involvement is to inform the public of the design features for the project. The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) is interested in obtaining input from the people who use this route.
