Online Public Involvement: Safety Improvements at Gargis Lane and AL-20

Project Overview

Location: Tuscumbia (Colbert County)

The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) is proposing to improve the intersection of Gargis Lane and AL-20 near Tuscumbia, Alabama. The proposed project includes installing a concrete island in the existing median to eliminate traffic from Gargis Lane crossing AL-20. An acceleration lane will be installed so that traffic traveling north on Gargis Lane will be able to turn left onto AL-20 and merge safely. Additionally, an inside turn lane will be added to allow northbound traffic traveling on Gargis Lane and eastbound traffic on AL-20 to continue north on Gargis Lane by making a U-turn. Lane closures will be necessary during construction.
