Online and In-person Public Involvement: Road Diet of AL-235

Project Overview

Location: Childersburg (Talladega)

The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) is proposing to improve traffic flow and decrease congestion along AL-235 near Childersburg, Alabama. The project will additionally include a road diet; the existing facility will be reconfigured from four (4) travel lanes to two (2) travel lanes and a two-way center turn lane, as designated. The project will also involve safety countermeasures consisting of resurfacing, traffic striping, guardrail replacements, roadway geometry corrections, and 2 foot safety widening along AL-235 from AL-38 (US-280) to CR-190 (Kings Chapel Road).

The purpose of this public involvement meeting is to inform the public of the design features for the project. ALDOT is interested in obtaining input from the people who use this route.

All comments regarding this project must be submitted on or before Friday, September 19, 2025.
