Online and In-person Public Involvement: Celeste Road Additional Lanes

Project Overview

Location: Saraland (Mobile County)

The City of Saraland is proposing to widen Celeste Road (CR-41) in the City of Saraland, of Mobile County, Alabama. The proposed project would widen the existing two-lane facility to a five-lane roadway consisting of two through lanes in each direction and a center turn lane.

The purpose of the proposed project is to relieve traffic congestion along Celeste Road from Forest Avenue to just west of I-65 in the City of Saraland. Congestion often means stopped or stop-and-go traffic and usually relates to an excess of vehicles on a portion of the roadway at a particular time. This results in speeds that are much slower than normal or “free flow” speeds. Congestion along Celeste Road is primarily due to traffic accessing the I-65 interchange and increased commercial/residential development in the project area.

The purpose of this public involvement meeting is to inform the public of the design features for the project. ALDOT is interested in obtaining input from the people who use this route.
