MPO CHECKLIST

At the conclusion of each state fiscal year, MPOs are required to publish a listing of projects that that were either authorized or revised to increase or decrease obligations in the previous year. The list must include both FHWA (highway-based) and FTA (transit-based) projects.
The primary role of the MPO is to review the data, and to organize it into a report. Data is available through the MPO Portal, using the Report option. ALDOT will assist the MPOs in accessing the MPO Portal and will review the report for completeness.

Each Metropolitan Planning Organization must approve a Unified Planning Work Program annually.

UPWP Checklist

The MPO has multiple options for selecting Architectural and Engineering Services. In using the On-Call List, the MPO is looking to select a consultant that has already been vetted by ALDOT at the highest level. XII(b)(1)(ii) State of Alabama Department of Transportation June 24, 2016; Procedure for Selection of Architect and/or Engineer Services	ALDOT will transit a list of currently active “on-call consultants to the city/county/MPO. Upon receiving the list of consultants, the city/County/MPO will select one of the consultants listed and then enter into negotiations with the selected firm.

XII(b)(1)(iv) State of Alabama Department of Transportation June 24, 2016; Procedure for Selection of Architect and/or Engineer Services	Region Engineer determines approval or additional information needed. Determination: a) If approved, Region Engineer transmits letter of approval to MPO; b) If additional information is needed, the approval letter will be provided after the additional information is provided.

The following should be included with the MPO’s Invoice to Local Transportation Bureau (Planning Funds). This will be the MPO’s communication to Local Transportation Bureau that the Consultant Selection Process has been followed:
