Project Overview
Location: Hartford (Geneva County)
The proposed project is located along AL-52 from Hartford to Slocomb, a distance of approximately seven (7) miles. Beginning at First Avenue in Hartford, AL-52 will be repaved for approximately two miles to CR-69/Shiloh Road. Right-turn lanes will be added at Tenth Avenue, Railroad Avenue, Clemmons Street, Toro Road, and Slocomb Avenue.
From CR-69/Shiloh Road, AL-52 will be widening to a 5-lane section, with two (2) lanes in each direction and center-turn lane. This 5-lane section will extend approximately four (4) miles to North Rex Street where it will transition down to the existing 4-lane roadway. The required widening shifts from the north side of AL-52 to the south side and back north again at North Rex Street. The existing bridge over Hurricane Creek will be widened as needed.
From North Rex Street, the existing 4-lane roadway will be repaved approximately two (2) miles in Slocomb, tying into ALDOT Project RAED-031-052-005, Additonal Lanes from Slocomb to Malvern on AL-52.
The purpose of this public involvement meeting is to inform the public of the design features for the project. ALDOT is interested in obtaining input from the people who use this route.
