Online and In-person Public Involvement: Intersection Improvement at AL-261 and CR-52

Project Overview

Location: Helena (Shelby County)

ALDOT is proposing to improve traffic flow at the intersection of AL-261 (Helena Road) and CR-52 in the City of Helena. The proposed project will widen AL-26l to add a center left-turn lane from Roy Drive to CR-52 and a right-turn lane on southbound AL-261 at CR-52. CR-52 will also be widened to accommodate a through-lane. Additonally, the existing sidewalks along AL-261 will be realigned to accommodate the new roadway configuration. Temporary road closures and detours may be necessary during construction. Additional right-of-way will be needed to implement this project.

The purpose of this public involvement meeting is to inform the public of the design features for the project. ALDOT is interested in obtaining input from the people who use this route.

All comments regarding this project must be submitted on or before Friday, December 26, 2025.
