Project Overview
Location: Heflin (Cleburne County)
The Alabama Department of Transportation is proposing to replace the existing bridge on AL-1 (US-431) over Chulafinnee Creek near Heflin, Cleburne County, Alabama. The purpose of this project is to address aging infrastructure and functional deficiencies of the existing bridge. The bridge was constructed in 1947 and does not meet modern design standards due to its narrow width. The replacement bridge will be 40' wide with 12' lanes and 8' shoulders. Additionally, the bridge will be constructed on new alignment west of the existing bridge, allowing the roadway to stay open during construction. Additional right-of-way will be required.
The purpose of this public involvement meeting is to inform the public of the design features for the project. ALDOT is interested in obtaining input from the people who use this route.
