The proposed project area is located on SR-16 (US-90) over Hall’s Mill Creek. SR-16 is an urban four-lane principal arterial that runs east-west in Mobile County through a flat terrain between Mobile and Tillmans Corner. The existing bridge is approximately 0.9 miles east of the intersection of SR-16 (US-90) and SR-193 in Tillmans Corner. Adjacent to the project are several businesses on the west side of the proposed bridge and a neighborhood, church, and apartment complex on the east side.
The existing bridge to be replaced measures 61’ 2” wide including four travel lanes with 2’ outside shoulders. The existing bridge will be replaced with two separate bridges, one each for eastbound and westbound.
4-lanes of traffic will be maintained during construction through phasing construction. Work is expected to begin in early 2027 and take about 2 years to complete.
The purpose of this public involvement meeting is to inform the public of the design features for the project. ALDOT is interested in obtaining input from the people who use this route.
