The proposed project is located along US-31 from US-90/98 to School Road in the City of Spanish Fort, Baldwin County. The project will widen US-31, modify and upgrade traffic signals along the project corridor, realign AL-225 at its intersection with US-31, and modify access at multiple locations. The purpose of this project is to increase capacity, increase safety, and reduce congestion on US-98, US-90, US-31, AL-225, and Spanish Main. It is anticipated that some limited acquisition of additional right-of-way will be needed for this project. Construction of this project is scheduled to begin Fall 2027 and be complete in Spring 2029.
The purpose of this public involvement meeting is to inform the public of the design features for the project. The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) is interested in obtaining input from the people who use this route.
All comments regarding this project must be submitted on or before Thursday, December 10, 2026.
