Online and In-person Public Involvement: US-72 Access Management

Project Overview

Location: Huntsville (Madison County)

The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) is proposing an access management project in Huntsville, Madison County along AL-2 (US-72) from Shields Road to Brock Road. The proposed project will close medians, install U-turn lanes and bulb-outs, lengthen auxiliary lanes, and modify existing driveways. These modifications will reduce conflict points to improve safety along the corridor. Additional right-of-way may be needed in order to implement the project. Lane closures will be necessary during construction.

The purpose of this public involvement meeting is to inform the public of the design features for the project. ALDOT is interested in obtaining input from the people who use this route.

All comments regarding this project must be submitted on or before Wednesday, April 8, 2026.
