Project Overview

Location: Tuscaloosa/Centreville (Tuscaloosa/Bibb County)

The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) has a proposed project along a segment of AL-6/US-82 corridor which serves as the primary connection between Tuscaloosa and Centreville. The ALDOT project goals are to improve corridor safety, ensuring a more continuous traffic flow, and promote economic growth and development. AL-6/US-82 has experienced notable traffic growth recently, while many developable areas still exist along the project area, providing the opportunity for continued growth. This regional growth indicates an uptick in the transportation needs for the corridor, in addition to the need for consideration of measures to provide an increase in the safety of the roadway by reducing conflict points. This project considers both future growth and increases driver safety by closing some driveway/side-street access points, reducing the size of some driveways, and either closing or strategically installing medians to reduce and restrict conflicting movements promoting better mobility along the corridor while maintaining the accessibility function of driveways and side-streets. The proposed project would be constructed in phases. The first phase would construct access management improvements along AL-6/US 82 for approximately 4 miles from West of CR-66 (Bradley Road) to East of Duncanville Middle School Road.

The purpose of this public involvement meeting is to inform the public of the design features for the project. The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) is interested in obtaining input from the people who use this route.

All comments regarding this project must be submitted on or before  Friday, October 30, 2026.
